The most local information is at the Census Block Group In the U.S., there are literally millions of homes, hundreds of thousands of Census Block Groups, thousands of zip codes and yet only a few hundred markets or major cities. Conventional web-based real estate sites typically only cover these major markets and use pre-rendered maps and static reports based upon yearly market data.
But because of the massive number of micro area and markets, pre-rendered maps and large market reports are useless because they are unable to convey any relevant meaning that can be used to help make a smart investment decision.
The best and most local information is at the Census Block Group level. A Census Block Group is the smallest geographical unit for which the bureau publishes data, and typically contains around 600 households or homes. Note, at Growth Maps, we do not use ANY old Census data, just the boundaries defined by the US government. Growth Maps is the only web-based tool on the market today with dynamic maps and reports based upon current local information that will affect the future prices of real estate.
